Texas TikToker Blocked by Date After Using Coupon To Pay for Sushi Dinner

A first date at a Texas sushi restaurant has ended with one person blocked after they used a coupon, sparking debate on TikTok about dating etiquette.

The creator, posting as @thechanteshow, asked viewers whether applying a $30-off coupon was wrong after the date texted that the situation was embarrassing and then blocked them on every platform.

The meal took place at RA Sushi in Addison, part of the Benihana-owned chain, after the pair had been talking online and agreed to meet.

They ordered food and drinks and spent the evening laughing, according to the creator.

At the end of the night, the TikToker told the server about a $30 birthday promotion coupon.

The restaurant briefly asked for an account number the creator did not have, but the discount went through.

The date’s energy shifted after the bill was settled, with fewer jokes and less affection.

The next morning, a text said she had a good time but did not want another date, calling the coupon situation embarrassing.

The creator called and hit voicemail, then found they were blocked everywhere they checked.

A friend called the coupon a turn-off, and commenters split on whether using it on a first date was cheap or fine.

“Pulling out a coupon on the first date is definitely a turn off.”

Others sided with the creator, with one writing they would be mad they had even used the $30 coupon on the date.
