A customer at a Newark Airport restaurant was charged $1.70 just for asking a self-order kiosk to leave an egg off a sandwich.
The receipt showed the remove-egg fee on a steak, egg and cheese order, while taking off the mayo was free.
Says Reddit user Grasping_at_straws,
“$1.70 to NOT put an egg on my sandwich?… Airport price gouging is the worst.”

The customer later said $1.70 is also the price to add an egg, so the charge was most likely a kiosk programming error.
A commenter who said they repair those machines said the setup may have missed a minus sign on the remove button.
The customer said they laughed about it with the workers and were not too concerned.
