SpaceX stock millionaire gains are possible, but right now they look like a decades-long project and not a quick Tesla-style jackpot, because the shares already trade at a very steep valuation. At the time of writing, the SpaceX stock price sits at $148.07 after a 1.85% drop on October 1, not far above where it debuted, so SpaceX stock returns have been pretty modest so far. Wall Street’s SpaceX stock forecast is upbeat, with an average 12-month SpaceX price target of $226 from 37 analysts, and SpaceX stock growth has also been strong, as second-quarter revenue climbed 92% to $7.8 billion.

Why Tesla’s Run Sparked The Question

Tesla went public back in 2010, and its shares have returned an average of 40.11% a year since then. That means a $5,000 investment back then would be worth more than $1 million right now. So when Elon Musk took SpaceX public on the Nasdaq on June 12, 2026, under the ticker SPCX, a lot of people started asking the same thing: can I become a SpaceX stock millionaire, too?

For some, it already happened. More than 4,000 current and former employees became millionaires with the IPO, according to some estimates. Retail buyers who got in at the debut have a very different story, though. The SpaceX stock price hasn’t moved far from its starting level, and so the early SpaceX stock returns for the public have been small.

The SpaceX stock millionaire dream, then, depends on what the company does over the next couple of decades.

SpaceX Stock Forecast: Needham Sees $250, Bernstein $248, BofA $235

Wall Street mostly expects the shares to climb. Across 37 ratings from the past three months, 30 analysts say Buy, five say Hold and two say Sell, and their average 12-month SpaceX price target sits at $226, about 52.63% above the current price. The most bullish call goes as high as $450, and the most bearish one sits at $140.

The latest updates came from some big names, too. Needham has the highest SpaceX price target of the group at $250, and Bernstein SocGen Group follows at $248, BofA Securities at $235, UBS at $210 and Mizuho at $200. All five kept their Buy ratings on September 29 and 30.

A big part of the expected SpaceX stock growth comes from cheaper launches. The reusable Falcon 9 boosters already brought launch costs down a lot, and Starship, which SpaceX designed to be fully reusable, could cut them further and also lift margins.

Starlink Fuels Hopes

Starlink is the engine behind most SpaceX stock millionaire hopes right now. It finished the second quarter with 12 million subscribers, double the number from a year earlier, and quarterly connectivity revenue jumped 66% to $4.29 billion.

Elon Musk had this to say on the earnings call:

“I think people are really underestimating Starlink here”

Mizuho, which rates the stock Outperform with a $200 SpaceX price target, stated:

“SpaceX is not a rocket company. It is the infrastructure layer of the orbital economy.”

The company also shrank its net loss to $541 million, down from $1 billion a year ago, and Musk says an internal projection points to $1 trillion in annual revenue by 2030. If SpaceX gets anywhere near that number, today’s SpaceX stock forecast could end up looking far too cautious. Anyone hoping to become a SpaceX stock millionaire is basically betting on that plan.

Why The Valuation Carries Real Risk

The flip side is the price tag. At a market cap of about $2 trillion, SpaceX trades at 200 times forward earnings, and a lot of its future success already sits in the share price. The SpaceX stock price has swung between $104.83 and $225.64 over the past 52 weeks, and for anyone chasing SpaceX stock millionaire status, that kind of swing is part of the deal.

More insider shares unlock on October 9 and October 24, which could weigh on the near-term SpaceX stock forecast. And then there’s Starship Flight 14, which SpaceX plans to fly on September 28 in a bid to reach orbit for the first time. A bad flight could hurt the shares, and fast.

The math on a Tesla repeat is rough, too. Tesla-like SpaceX stock returns over the next 16 years would push the company’s value to about $441 trillion, or roughly 14 times U.S. annual GDP, and the Motley Fool called that incredibly unlikely.

So, can you still become a SpaceX stock millionaire? For most people, a SpaceX stock millionaire result would take two things: buying on a sharp dip and holding for something like 30 years. SpaceX stock growth over that kind of stretch could still be life-changing, and 30 of the 37 analysts covering the stock rate it a Buy right now. The lowest SpaceX price target, at $140, shows that not everyone on Wall Street agrees, though. Still, the ride will be bumpy, and a SpaceX stock millionaire story that starts with a $5,000 bet today needs the company to grow into a valuation far bigger than its current one.
