The CoreWeave stock drop reached 15% on Wednesday, October 14, after a jump in CoreWeave bond yields sparked fresh fears over CoreWeave debt. The CoreWeave stock price closed at $65.78, down $12.03, or 15.46%, and CEO Mike Intrator told staff that the market is acting “irrationally.” Right now, the CoreWeave stock forecast hinges on whether the AI cloud company can borrow money at a lower cost.
CoreWeave Stock Drop Deepens as Bond Yields Surge and AI Debt Risks Grow

The CoreWeave stock drop started just a day after venture capitalist Chamath Palihapitiya posted a chart on X. It showed the yield on $1.25 billion of CoreWeave bonds due in 2032 hitting 15% and then closing at a new high of 14.5%. A bond’s yield rises as its price falls, so higher CoreWeave bond yields mean lenders want a steep return.
“Is the AI buildout creating a private credit bubble?”
Elon Musk replied:
“Yikes.”

CEO Mike Intrator Blames An Irrational Market For The CoreWeave Stock Drop
In an internal memo Bloomberg obtained, Intrator stated:
“When you are building a new type of technology company, there will be periods of time when the market misunderstands and acts irrationally. We are confident in our business model, our customers, the extraordinary quality of our execution, and the relentless discipline around the financial engine we have built.”
He also blamed weak and delayed IPOs and debt deals at rivals. The CoreWeave stock drop hit peers, too. Nebius fell 11%, Oracle lost 9%, and DigitalOcean, Hut 8, Cipher, TeraWulf and IREN sank over 10%.
CoreWeave Debt Has Climbed To About $52 Billion
CoreWeave rents Nvidia chips to AI firms and funds much of that hardware with loans. Total CoreWeave debt reached about $52 billion at the end of June, up from about $15 billion a year earlier. Interest expense jumped to $640 million in the second quarter from $267 million, and the company lost $626 million, according to Yahoo Finance data, even as revenue more than doubled to $2.58 billion.
That math sits right behind the CoreWeave stock drop. The Financial Times reported that CoreWeave now goes after insurers’ capital, and co-founder Brannin McBee, who leads its financing, wants investment-grade ratings on more chip-backed loans to tap it. McBee stated:
“I don’t look at that as scary debt at all. I look at that as accelerating debt and great debt.”
What The CoreWeave Stock Forecast Looks Like Now
Not everyone buys that view after the CoreWeave stock drop. D.A. Davidson analyst Gil Luria rates the stock Neutral with a $100 price target, about 52% above the current CoreWeave stock price. He estimates CoreWeave borrows at around 9% and earns about 1% on its investments, and on the Prof G Markets podcast he warned the equity could end up worth zero if the AI spending boom turns.
At the time of writing, the CoreWeave stock price sits at its lowest close since July 29. Shares trade about 56% below the $150 high from October 16, 2025, and sit roughly 7% lower this year, with another 3.22% overnight slip to $63.66. For now, CoreWeave bond yields remain the clearest signal for the CoreWeave stock forecast and the CoreWeave stock drop.
