Kevin O’Leary has found an unusual way to show off his investments. The Shark Tank star is wearing a rare Michael Jordan trading card around his neck, attached to a custom Tiffany & Co. chain.

His investment group reportedly paid between $500,000 and $600,000 for the card. Now, O’Leary believes it is worth more than $2 million.

That would mean his investment has more than tripled in value. But there is one problem: no public auction has yet confirmed that price.

This is what’s so great about the hobby. It’s a fantastic alternative asset class and I can actually wear it! It looks spectacular in the Tiffany chain. I’m really wearing art. pic.twitter.com/Zp8srtfGXG

Why Is This Michael Jordan Card So Valuable?

In a video posted on X, O’Leary showed off the 1997-98 Fleer Metal Universe Precious Metal Gems (PMG) Red Michael Jordan card.

Only 100 numbered PMG Jordan cards were produced. The first 10 were green, while the remaining 90 were red. O’Leary owns number 12.

He claims one of the green versions was destroyed, leaving just nine. He chose red because it matches the rubies on his Tiffany chain.

For O’Leary, the appeal goes beyond basketball. He considers the card wearable art and a serious financial investment.

And recent auction results provide some support for his enthusiasm.

In August 2026, another Jordan PMG Red, numbered 52 of 100, sold for $1,473,989. It became the most expensive PMG card ever sold at public auction.

Still, the final price of O’Leary’s copy would depend heavily on its condition, grading and buyer demand.

Why Is O’Leary Betting on Trading Cards Over Traditional Assets?

O’Leary believes rare collectibles can deliver extraordinary returns. He has argued that some cards “seem to defy recessions” and wants 5% of his portfolio invested in sports cards.

The wider market offers some evidence. An index of rare Pokémon cards gained more than 150% between September 2021 and October 2026, outperforming Bitcoin, gold and the S&P 500 over that period.

But collectibles carry significant risks. They generate no income, can take time to sell and depend heavily on what another buyer is willing to pay.

For now, O’Leary’s $2 million valuation remains a paper estimate. Only an actual sale can establish what his Jordan card is worth.
