GBPTHB Eyes UK PMI

GBPTHB Eyes UK PMI

Fundamental Analysis

GBPTHB is expected to trade within a range with a slight bearish bias. Investors are monitoring the release of the final UK Services PMI and Composite PMI to assess the health of the UK economy. As these are final readings, their market impact is likely to be limited unless the figures differ significantly from the preliminary estimates.

Meanwhile, the prevailing Risk-On sentiment continues to support the Thai baht, putting downward pressure on USDTHB and potentially weighing on GBPTHB in the short term.

However, today's primary market focus remains on key US economic data, particularly the ADP Employment Change and ISM Services PMI. A stronger-than-expected UK PMI could provide short-term support for the British pound. On the other hand, stronger US economic data would likely strengthen the US dollar and pressure the pound, increasing the likelihood of GBPTHB remaining range-bound or moving lower.

Technical Analysis

GBPTHB continues to trade in a Sideway to Bearish trend after extending its decline and remaining unable to reclaim its short-term moving averages. Price also continues to trade below the descending trendline, with the short-term market structure forming Lower Highs and Lower Lows, indicating that sellers remain in control.

The RSI remains below the 50 level and is approaching the oversold zone, while the MACD continues to trade in negative territory with the MACD line remaining below the Signal Line. Although bearish momentum has started to ease, there are still no clear signs of a bullish reversal, suggesting that selling pressure may continue in the near term.

A break below the 44.60 support level would confirm a fresh wave of selling and increase the probability of a decline toward the 44.53–44.48 support zone, which represents the primary bearish target.

Key Risks

The downside outlook would weaken if GBPTHB rebounds and manages to hold above 44.73 while breaking decisively above the descending trendline. Such a move would indicate that buying momentum is returning and selling pressure is fading, opening the door for a recovery toward the 44.80–44.85 resistance area.

In addition, the British pound could receive support if the Thai baht weakens or if the US dollar softens, encouraging a broader recovery among major currencies. An improvement in global Risk-On sentiment could also help limit downside pressure and allow GBPTHB to rebound more than currently expected.
