A Louisiana woman has been arrested after police say she used falsified Social Security numbers to collect more than $41,000 in casino jackpots.
The Louisiana State Police says Shamika Brown, 43, of Alexandria, collected 16 jackpots at L’Auberge Casino Baton Rouge in 2020 totaling more than $41,000 while trying to dodge overdue child support owed to the Department of Children and Family Services.
Brown also took nearly $2,500 from another Baton Rouge casino in 2023 with false identifying information, according to the agency.
In October 2024, she gave additional fake Social Security numbers while trying to collect a $1,264 jackpot at L’Auberge, prompting an arrest warrant from the 19th Judicial District Court.
On September 21st, 2026, a gaming enforcement investigator recognized Brown back at the same casino as she tried to retrieve that pending payout.
The investigation was launched after L’Auberge reported suspected fraud to the Louisiana State Police Gaming Enforcement Division on October 15th, 2024.
As detectives reviewed Brown’s casino activity, they discovered she allegedly used false identifying information in transactions dating back several years.
Troopers arrested her on September 21st on the warrant and booked her into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on 18 counts of bank fraud and identity theft.
The probe is ongoing, and police say more charges may follow.
