Warren Buffett Spends His Cash Pile, Buys $14.5 Billion in Google Stock

Warren Buffett’s investment arm Berkshire Hathaway has a record cash pile of $365 billion, which has mostly remained untouched. For the first time in 2026, the new CEO, Greg Abel announced that a small portion of the cash pile would be used to accumulate and repurchase Alphabet’s Class A Google stock (NASDAQ: GOOGL). Berkshire Hathaway has invested in Alphabet two different times in 2026.

The transactions were done in two different modes, which include buying Google stock and also repurchasing shares. The new investment was worth a total of $14.5 billion, in addition to an already existing investment of $4.5 billion in GOOGL, alongside a $10 billion private placement purchase in Alphabet. The self-made billionaire is heavily betting on Alphabet, as it enters the next-gen technology of AI.

Berkshire Hathaway confirmed it has invested $10 billion in buying Google stock. It has also repurchased its shares worth about $4.5 billion. This makes the total investment in Alphabet touch a record of $14.5 billion. Warren Buffett’s investment arm had a cash pile of $400 billion at the start of 2026. It now reports a cash pile of $365.5 billion. While $14.5 billion went to GOOGL, the other $20.5 billion was invested in commercial and industrial stocks.

The buying back of its own shares came in 2024, after Greg Abel took over the reins. While the CEO operates independently, Warren Buffett remains the Chairman of the investment arm. Google stock stands to gain the most from Warren Buffett’s confidence in the company. GOOGL opened Monday’s trading session at $354.30 and is among the top-performing Magnificent 7 stocks in 2026. It has risen 12.42% year-to-date and is now looking to reclaim the $400 level. Warren Buffett is already in heaps of profit by investing in Alphabet.
