Micron has not announced a Micron stock split, and at the time of writing, nobody at the company has said one is coming. But shares closed Tuesday at $1,096.16, up 5.00%, or $52.20, and now sit just a few dollars shy of $1,100 after opening at $1,033.28 and trading as high as $1,097.25. A jump like that tends to bring the question up on its own. Micron has split its stock three times before, most recently back in March 2000, and with a stock split possible around its next earnings date, a lot of investors right now want to know what a four-figure share price even means for the stock going forward.

Micron Stock Price And An Earnings Surge
Micron’s share count hasn’t moved much, sitting near 1.13 billion as of mid-June against 1.12 billion at the start of fiscal 2026. What changed is how much each share earns, and that shift shows up clearly in Micron stock earnings this year. In the fiscal third quarter, ended May 28, 2026, Micron earned $24.67 per diluted share, up from $12.07 the quarter before and just $1.68 a year earlier, while revenue more than quadrupled to $41.5 billion and gross margin climbed to 84.6% from 37.7%. Guidance for the fiscal fourth quarter points to Micron stock earnings of around $30.73 per diluted share, and the Micron stock price has followed that surge closely, now trading near $1,096 with a market cap of about $1.238 trillion.
Sanjay Mehrotra, CEO of Micron Technology, said the quarter’s results reflect:
“the strategic value of memory in the AI era”
Why A Micron Stock Split Is Possible, But Also Not Confirmed
Nvidia announced a 10-for-1 split back in May 2024, and Broadcom followed with its own 10-for-1 split about three weeks later, and both companies folded the news into a quarterly earnings report rather than a separate announcement. Nvidia said the move was meant:
“to make stock ownership more accessible to employees and investors”
Micron will report fiscal fourth-quarter earnings on September 30, and that date would probably be the logical one for a split announcement if one is coming at all. Nothing on record right now suggests Micron is planning one, so a stock split possible this year stays speculation for the moment, not company guidance.
Micron Stock Forecast: What A Split Would Really Change
An actual split wouldn’t move the fundamentals much. The share count would go up and the price would come down by the same ratio, and every investor’s percentage stake, along with the price-to-earnings ratio, would land in about the same place. Analysts wouldn’t need to change the Micron stock forecast either, since dividing a share on paper doesn’t change the underlying business. Fractional shares have also made the old case for splitting, that a high price locks out smaller investors, mostly outdated by now, since brokers let people buy a sliver of a stock for a dollar these days. One spot where price still matters on its own is the Dow Jones Industrial Average, which weights members by share price instead of market value.
At Micron’s current valuation, trading around 24.77 times trailing earnings and roughly 6.5 times the fiscal 2027 earnings analysts are forecasting, a slowdown in profit growth already looks priced into the stock, and that outlook probably matters more than any split for where earnings head next. Wall Street’s own Micron stock forecast puts a one-year price target near $1,515, well above where shares sit right now, and whether that view holds up is what will actually move the stock price and the forecast from here, not a split.
Until Micron says otherwise, a stock split is possible just in theory. If a Micron stock split does eventually happen, it will most likely arrive without much warning, tucked inside an earnings release the same way Nvidia’s and Broadcom’s were.
