Hollywood studios are tightening restrictions on employees betting on prediction market after suspicious activity surrounding the next James Bond casting decision. The prediction market controversy intensified after a platform temporarily pulled its market following a sudden wave of bets backing Callum Turner.
The Hollywood Reporter reported that studios and production companies have been quietly warning employees against wagering on confidential industry information. The restrictions cover casting decisions, movie release dates, and studio earnings. At least one company has reportedly established an anonymous hotline for reporting suspected insider betting.
THR has learned studios and production companies have been quietly issuing new guidelines to employees warning them not to engage in prediction market betting.

The crackdown follows growing interest in entertainment contracts on platforms such as Polymarket and Kalshi. Employees could potentially turn confidential production information into profits before announcements reach the public. They are also being warned against passing information to friends or relatives who could place bets on their behalf.
James Bond Casting Bets Trigger Hollywood Prediction Market Concerns
A prediction market platform temporarily suspended its next James Bond casting market after a sudden wave of sharp money pushed Callum Turner ahead of longtime favorite Jack Lowden. The movement raised concerns that traders might have received information about the casting decision before an official announcement.
Turner’s odds had already improved following casting rumors and reports of screen tests. However, the sudden betting activity attracted additional attention, particularly because Amazon MGM Studios has yet to announce its next 007.

Kalshi’s November 6 market snapshot showed Turner leading with a 62% implied probability. Josh O’Connor followed at 18%, while Lowden held 14%. Prediction market has become an increasingly attractive target for traders seeking opportunities beyond politics and sports, such as Hollywood.
Entertainment contracts can cover award winners, reality television eliminations, celebrity appearances, and confidential production developments. The potential for insider betting is particularly concerning when employees have access to information that ordinary participants cannot obtain.

Bitcoin Hyper Builds Infrastructure for Faster Onchain Applications
The controversy also highlights the infrastructure demands facing blockchain applications as prediction markets expand into entertainment and other real-world events. Faster execution and affordable transactions could become increasingly important as developers explore new onchain financial products.
Bitcoin Layer 2 projects are pursuing similar infrastructure improvements. Bitcoin Hyper uses the Solana Virtual Machine (SVM) to support high-throughput execution, lower transaction costs, and programmable applications while periodically settling Layer 2 state to Bitcoin.

It currently records more than $33.2 million raised, with HYPER priced at just $0.0136. The project also offers 35% staking rewards, while its November 26 presale deadline approaches.
The development effort aims to extend Bitcoin beyond traditional transfers and long-term storage. Its proposed ecosystem includes decentralized finance, payments, and other applications that require faster transaction processing.

Hollywood restrictions show a difficult enforcement problem for prediction market platforms such as Polymarket and Kalshi. Blockchain transactions can provide publicly accessible records of wallet activity, but identifying the person controlling an address is another matter. Traders can also use multiple wallets and intermediaries to make their activity harder to connect to their real identities.
The issue is not entirely theoretical. Kalshi previously fined a video editor working for MrBeast’s company $20,000 after the employee reportedly generated approximately $5,000 through bets using confidential information. Beast Industries subsequently fired the employee.

Federal prosecutors have also pursued separate prediction-market cases involving an active-duty soldier and a Google engineer. Both cases involve allegations of using confidential information to place bets.
Hollywood restricting employees from betting in prediction market is only the first step, and the next James Bond announcement may finally settle the casting speculation.
