Hyperliquid is facing fresh competition from LIT as Wall Street pushes back against tokenized crypto stocks, raising questions about the future of onchain trading. Fifty publicly traded companies have now objected to having their shares tokenized through OKXICE, the joint venture between crypto exchange OKX and New York Stock Exchange parent Intercontinental Exchange.

The growing resistance comes as decentralized exchanges compete for traders, liquidity, and the major crypto market narrative. Hyperliquid remains a leading player, but LIT is attracting attention as Lighter expands its crypto trading ecosystem.

🚨BREAKING: 50 companies worth over $25 TRILLION now officially say "NO" to TOKENIZATION.

Nvidia, Nike and Micron are among the latest to object to tokenized versions of their shares on OKXICE.

Nvidia, Microsoft, Nike, Alphabet, JPMorgan Chase, and Goldman Sachs are among the companies opposing the OKXICE initiative. The venture initially planned to offer tokenized versions of 62 major US companies, allowing investors to trade blockchain-based representations of their shares.

However, objections have rapidly expanded. Companies are concerned about shareholder rights, market structure, liquidity, and potential confusion surrounding tokenized securities.

Nasdaq has also warned that poorly regulated tokenized markets could fragment liquidity and weaken price discovery. The exchange supports tokenization under a framework that preserves traditional investor protections.

Hyperliquid and LIT Battle for Crypto Onchain Traders

Hyperliquid continues to dominate decentralized perpetual futures trading, but Lighter is building a competing ecosystem. LIT has gained attention through Lighter’s crypto trading activity, token buybacks, and plans to pursue US regulatory approval.

Data tracked by DefiLlama showed Lighter generating $4.93 million in protocol revenue over 30 days, alongside $793 million in total value locked. The protocol also bought back around $4.03 million worth of LIT during October, bringing recorded buybacks since January to $33.2 million.

Hyperliquid, meanwhile, continues to attract substantial trading activity. HYPE is trading at below $90, with a market cap approaching $21 billion. But token supply remains a concern. Hyperliquid Labs unstaked 3.75 million HYPE in October for an institutional over-the-counter transaction worth approximately $330 million at the time.

The transaction created a potential supply overhang, although the OTC structure reduced immediate selling pressure on public exchanges.

The competition between Hyperliquid and Lighter reflects a larger question: which platforms can attract huge trading volume as crypto expands into new financial markets?

Could Bitcoin Become the Next Tokenization Frontier?

Wall Street’s resistance could also push developers to explore alternative blockchain infrastructure, and Bitcoin remains primarily associated with long-term value storage. Not only Bitcoin, but layer 2 networks are also working to expand their role in decentralized finance and programmable applications.

Bitcoin Hyper is one project pursuing that direction, combining Bitcoin-focused settlement with Solana Virtual Machine-compatible execution. The architecture is designed to support faster transactions, smart contracts, and decentralized trading, potentially creating infrastructure for tokenized assets and other financial applications built around Bitcoin.

The project has more than $33.23 million raised in its presale, with HYPER priced at just $0.0136, way cheaper than Hyperliquid’s HYPE and LIT, plus staking rewards of 35% APY. Its testnet wallet and explorer are also available, as development continues toward a broader Bitcoin Layer 2 ecosystem.

If tokenized stocks and real-world assets continue moving onchain, Bitcoin-based infrastructure could become another contender in the race for financial market activity.

With the HYPER presale closing on November 22, the countdown is ticking. Once the presale window shuts, this entry price is gone, and the race for the next Bitcoin Layer 2 moonshot begins.
