Bitcoin price is recovering toward $81,000, gaining nearly 2% as buyers return ahead of the Federal Reserve’s FOMC policy decision. The rebound followed a difficult stretch for BTC, which recently slipped below $80,000 as rate uncertainty weighed on crypto markets.

Wall Street offered some encouragement, with the Nasdaq Composite climbing 1.18% and the S&P 500 gaining 0.60% on last night’s close. South Korea’s KOSPI then surged 6.63% today, reclaiming 6,000 points as semiconductor optimism lifted Asian equities.

But the global rebound faces a monetary policy test. Bulls largely expect the FOMC to hold interest rates steady, while persistent inflation and rising Treasury yields keep the possibility of another hike alive. Bitcoin’s next move could depend as much on the Fed’s forward guidance as its immediate decision.

Bitcoin Price Rises as Nasdaq and KOSPI Rally

The latest Bitcoin price recovery comes as technology shares regain momentum across major markets. The Nasdaq closed Tuesday at 26,477.81, while the S&P 500 finished at 7,722.60. Both indexes extended their gains as investors bought technology stocks, particularly companies linked to artificial intelligence.

South Korea’s stock market delivered an even sharper move. The KOSPI jumped 6.63% to close at 6,012.44, supported by record quarterly earnings from SK Hynix and its shareholder-return plans. The rally also showed renewed confidence in AI-related semiconductor demand.

That backdrop could help Bitcoin if investors continue increasing exposure to risk assets. Yet, Bitcoin remained below the $82,000 level, an important level for rebuilding bullish momentum.

FOMC Hike Fears Persist Despite Rate-Hold Bets

The FOMC decision remains the main catalyst for Bitcoin price action, even though traders overwhelmingly favor unchanged rates. Polymarket puts the probability of a hold at 95%, against roughly 4% for a 25-basis-point hike.

CME FedWatch also points toward a hold, with fed funds futures implying 91% odds. That leaves a smaller but meaningful chance of a hike.

The bigger concern is what Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh signals about December. Inflation accelerated to 3.7% annually in September, while energy costs linked to the Iran war have complicated inflation.

A hawkish hold could still pressure Bitcoin. If the Fed signals that rates may remain elevated or rise again, Treasury yields and the dollar could strengthen. That combination would make speculative assets less attractive, potentially cutting short the current rebound.

Conversely, a less aggressive message could support BTC even without a rate cut. Traders may interpret a hold accompanied by softer forward guidance as an opportunity to increase exposure to risk assets.

Bitcoin to Reclaim $82,000?

The immediate challenge for Bitcoin is turning its bounce above $80,000 into a sustained recovery. The $82,000 area is an important level to watch, a threshold for renewed bullish momentum.

A sustained break above $82,000 could improve the short-term outlook and open the door to a recovery toward $84,000. However, another rejection near resistance could leave BTC vulnerable to a retest of $80,000.

The FOMC decision could trigger short-term volatility in Bitcoin, but its impact on the mid-term trend is often less straightforward. Markets typically price in expected rate decisions well before the announcement, leaving the market to react more strongly to unexpected changes in policy or forward guidance.

If the Federal Reserve holds rates as expected, Bitcoin may see sharp intraday swings without establishing a sustained direction.

Historical price action in the chart above also shows that Bitcoin does not consistently follow a predictable pattern after FOMC decisions. BTC declined after some rate holds before recovering, while other meetings were followed by gains despite unchanged or tighter policy.
