XAUUSD has just broken above the upper boundary of the Bull Flag after a very strong bullish move. Before the breakout, price paused and pulled back inside a small descending channel, but instead of reversing deeper, buyers continued absorbing the selling pressure and eventually pushed price out of the structure.

And this is where the Bull Flag becomes interesting. It is one of the easiest continuation patterns to recognize because its structure looks very much like a flag waving after a flagpole.

The “flagpole” is created by the initial impulsive rally, where buyers push price higher quickly and decisively. Then comes the “flag,” where price pulls back slightly in the opposite direction. At first glance, this phase may look like sellers are returning, but in reality they are only slowing the advance rather than breaking the broader bullish structure.

When price breaks above the upper boundary of the flag, it usually suggests that the pause is over and buyers are taking control again. On the current chart, XAUUSD has done exactly that.

As long as the breakout area continues to hold and former resistance turns into new support, I expect bullish momentum to extend toward 4,370. With a Bull Flag, the most interesting part is often not the flag itself, but the moment price breaks out and starts building the next “flagpole.”
