Investment thesis:

Improving Operational and Financial Performance
Although footwear sales in Greater China continue to decline at a double-digit rate, management has been actively addressing the issue, and these efforts have already yielded encouraging initial results.
In the U.S., its home market, Nike’s footwear sales increased by 5% year over year. A key driver of margin improvement was an approximately $1 billion benefit associated with IEEPA-related measures.
The company also maintains a net cash position of more than $1 billion, giving it ample financial flexibility to pursue its strategic initiatives.
Nike has faced growing competition in the mass-market segment in certain regions. In response, the company is repositioning its brand toward the premium segment while refining its direct-to-consumer sales strategy.
High Short Interest
Approximately 63 million Nike shares are currently sold short, representing around 5.5% of the free float and the equivalent of roughly three days’ average trading volume.
A potential short squeeze could drive a sharp short-term increase in the share price.
Attractive Entry Point
Nike shares have declined by approximately 35% year to date and remain nearly 75% below their five-year high.
The stock is included in the Dow Jones Industrial Average, the S&P 500, and several sector-specific indices. During index rebalancing, passive investment flows may increase demand for Nike shares and provide additional technical support.
Attractive Dividend Yield
Nike pays a quarterly dividend and has consistently raised its dividend. The current dividend yield is approximately 4%, which may provide some downside support during periods of market weakness.
Conclusion: We recommend buying Nike shares at current levels, with a target price of $55 per share. This implies approximately 30% upside relative to the current market price.
To manage downside risk, we recommend setting a stop-loss at $34 per share.
