NICE: An Excellent Monthly BUY Setup After a 69% Drawdown

NICE: An Excellent Monthly BUY Setup After a 69% Drawdown

NICE has fallen from approximately $320 to around $100, erasing close to 69% of its market value from the 2021 peak.

The decline has taken the stock back toward levels last seen before its major 2020–2021 expansion, despite NICE remaining profitable, cash-generative and exposed to the structural migration of customer-service infrastructure toward cloud and AI.

The Master Buy Scanner V2 now identifies one of the strongest combinations available within the model: maximum technical, business-quality, valuation and growth scores.

However, one condition remains crucial: the monthly BUY signal is still marked WAIT CLOSE. This is an exceptionally attractive developing setup—not yet a completed signal.

Master Buy Scanner V2 — Monthly
Score: 3/3
Signal: BUY
Signal timeframe: 1M → 1M / 3W
Timeframe confidence: 1M OK
Action: BUY / BUILD
Decision: INVEST
BUY state: WAIT CLOSE
Entry quality: EXCELLENT — 100%
Setup maturity: EARLY
Position size: FULL 100%
Top recent: YES
WT cross: YES
Band 1: GREEN
Combined band: GREEN 7/10
Bands synchronized: YES
Cycle: ACTIVE
Bars since BUY: Never
WT1 / WT2: -56.51 / -56.96

The two momentum curves are deeply depressed and have produced a bullish WT cross close to the scanner’s lower accumulation boundary.

Band 1 is green, the two lower bands are synchronized, and the combined reading has reached 7/10. The broader cycle also remains active.

The important distinction is that Bars since BUY remains “Never.” The scanner recognizes all the necessary conditions, but the monthly candle has not yet completed the formal BUY event.

This makes the setup early and potentially attractive, while still vulnerable to reversal before the monthly close.

The latest results were stronger than the share price suggests

NICE reported second-quarter 2026 revenue of $782.3 million, up 7.6% year over year and above the high end of its guidance. Cloud revenue increased 12.6%, while international revenue grew 22%.

Management also reported a record quarter for new cloud annual-contract-value bookings and an all-time record for AI bookings. AI annual recurring revenue reached $362 million, which the company described as representing 15% of cloud revenue.

For the full year, NICE reiterated revenue guidance of $3.17–$3.19 billion, representing approximately 8% growth at the midpoint. It also raised non-GAAP EPS guidance to $11.06–$11.26 and maintained its expectation for 13%–15% cloud-revenue growth.

The company is therefore not experiencing a collapse in demand. Revenue, cloud adoption, international expansion and AI bookings are all continuing to grow.

The real concern is margin compression

The results also explain why investors remain cautious.

Second-quarter GAAP operating margin declined from 22.1% to 13.3%, while non-GAAP operating margin fell from 30.2% to 25.3%. Non-GAAP diluted EPS declined from $3.01 to $2.70, despite the increase in revenue.

This creates the central tension in the investment thesis:

Revenue and cloud demand remain healthy.
AI adoption is accelerating.
Full-year EPS guidance has been raised.
But near-term profitability is materially below its previous level.

The market appears to be questioning how much NICE must invest to integrate Cognigy, compete in agentic AI and sustain its leadership in cloud customer experience.

Cognigy could define the next growth cycle

NICE completed its acquisition of Cognigy in September 2025, combining Cognigy’s conversational and agentic AI technology with the CXone cloud platform.

The strategic objective is to provide a unified system covering human-assisted engagement, autonomous AI service, orchestration and broader front- and back-office workflows. Cognigy can also continue to be sold as a standalone product.

The early commercial evidence is encouraging. Management says Cognigy contributed to record AI bookings during Q2, while the native integration into CXone is expanding adoption among large global enterprises.

The bullish thesis is that NICE already owns the customer relationships, contact-centre data and enterprise workflows required to distribute agentic AI at scale.

The bearish thesis is that AI lowers technological barriers, attracts hyperscalers and enterprise-software competitors, and eventually compresses software pricing.

NICE itself acknowledges that its markets are intensely competitive and that hyperscalers, large-language-model providers, CRM platforms, IT-service-management vendors and dedicated AI companies may enter or expand within the CCaaS market. The company also identifies commoditization and pricing pressure as material risks.

Business quality remains exceptional

The scanner gives NICE a maximum 3/3 business-quality score:

Return on capital: 16.16%
Margin trend: +2.27%
Profitability measure: 16.53%
Cash-generation measure: 23.69%

NICE also retains considerable financial flexibility.

At the end of Q2, it held $354.7 million in cash, equivalents and short-term investments, with no outstanding debt. The company generated $122.7 million in quarterly operating cash flow and spent $58 million repurchasing shares.

The absence of debt materially reduces the financial risk associated with the current margin reset. NICE can continue investing in AI integration, international expansion and product development without relying on a highly leveraged balance sheet.

The valuation is becoming difficult to ignore

The scanner awards NICE a maximum 7/7 valuation score:

Cash yield: 9.79%
Business-price multiple: 7.44
Cash-flow multiple: 9.18
Earnings multiple: 11.69
Profit per share: $8.52
Debt-to-equity: 0.02

At a share price close to $100, NICE also trades at approximately nine times the midpoint of management’s 2026 non-GAAP EPS guidance.

The scanner and management guidance use different earnings definitions, so the multiples are not directly interchangeable. Both nevertheless indicate that the market is applying a very low valuation to a profitable, debt-free software company still producing high-single-digit revenue growth and double-digit cloud growth.

The valuation appears to price in either a substantial structural deterioration in margins or a significant weakening of NICE’s competitive position.

Growth outlook

The scanner also gives NICE a maximum 4/4 growth score:

Future profit growth: 25.89%
Three-year profit growth: 34.71%
Three-year sales growth: 10.97%
Estimate trend: 0%

The historical growth profile remains strong, but the forward thesis increasingly depends on NICE converting AI bookings into profitable recurring revenue.

The next phase must demonstrate that Cognigy and CXone can accelerate growth without permanently reducing operating margins.

Advanced confirmation

The advanced section strengthens the setup:

Advanced score: 12/14 — 86%
Lifecycle: CONFIRM
Conviction: A — 89%
False-bottom assessment: OK

This reduces—but does not eliminate—the probability that the current signal is simply another temporary rebound inside the long-term downtrend.

The greatest remaining technical weakness is not the scanner score. It is the absence of a completed monthly BUY event.

Key technical levels
Immediate support: $90–$100
Secondary support: $80–$85
Major long-term support: $60–$70
First resistance: $110–$120
Initial recovery confirmation: $135–$145
Major resistance: $160–$175
Structural recovery zone: $195–$210
Higher macro resistance: $240–$260

Holding the $90–$100 area through the monthly close would preserve the developing setup.

A reclaim of $110–$120 would provide the first evidence that buyers are gaining control. A move above $135–$145, followed by a higher low, would materially strengthen the long-term reversal thesis.

Below approximately $80, the risk of another leg lower would increase significantly.

My classification: QUALITY VALUE BUY — WAIT FOR THE MONTHLY CLOSE

NICE currently combines:

A maximum 3/3 technical score
Excellent 100% entry quality
Maximum business-quality score
Maximum valuation score
Maximum growth score
An 89% advanced-conviction rating
Deeply oversold monthly momentum
A debt-free balance sheet
Continued cloud and AI growth
A valuation close to nine times guided non-GAAP earnings

The principal risks are equally clear:

The formal monthly BUY event has not yet completed.
Operating margins have contracted materially.
Cognigy must be integrated successfully.
Competition from hyperscalers, CRM platforms and AI-native vendors is intensifying.
AI growth must translate into durable earnings growth rather than only higher investment.

The scanner displays FULL 100%, but I would interpret that as the potential target allocation after confirmation—not an instruction to deploy an entire position before the monthly candle closes.

The most disciplined classification is therefore:

QUALITY VALUE BUY — WAIT CLOSE, THEN BUILD.

What would you do?

A) Start building around $100
B) Wait for the confirmed monthly close
C) Wait for a recovery above $120

Master Buy Scanner V2:

This is not financial advice. Technical signals can fail, and an apparently inexpensive stock can remain under pressure if growth, margins or competitive positioning deteriorate.
